DECEMBER WEATHER December was a very wet month with a low sunshine average. Rain fell on 12 days as follows: 56 points on 3rd, 65 on 4th, 5 on 9th, 15 on 10th, 20 on 11th, 9 on 12th, 95 on 16th, 243 on 17th, 17 on 18th. 145 on 27th, 45 on 28th, 30 on 29th. Total for month 790 points. The fall for 1937 was 32.72 inches, for 1936 48.56, for 1935 33.38. After two very warm days 87 degrees on Monday and 84 degrees on Tuesday heavy rain fell during Tuesday night, 87 points being recorded at 9 o’clock on Wednesday morning. Shearing and cultivation work is at a standstill, and weeds in turnips and other root crops are getting out of hand.
