Warspite For Mediterranean The battleship Warspite has sailed from Portsmouth for the Mediterranean to relieve the Barham, the flagship of Admiral Sir Dudley Pound. Scotland Yard Helps. At the request of the French SureteGeneral, Scotland Yard is investigatihg ■the whereabouts of six Londoners who are believed to have been in communication with Eugene Weidmann, the German “Bluebeard,” who is now under arrest. Pope Receives Honeymooners. It is teported from Vatican City that the Pope, in the course of a busy morning, gave an audience to 350 honeymoon couples. Spanish Royal Birth. A Rome message states that the Princess of Asturias, the wife of Prince Juan, heir to the throne of Spain, has given birth to a son. Canadian Pilot Killed. It is reported from London that H. J. Clitheroe, a Canadian, was killed when a Royal Air Force machine he was piloting struck a tree at Whitmore, Staffordshire, and caught fire.
Sympathy for Canada. The British Government and the Secretary of State for Dominions have sent messages of sympathy to Canada on the death of Sir George Perley.
U.S.A. Judge Retires. A Washington message states that Mr Justice Sutherland has retired from the United States Supreme Court Bench. He will retain his full salary of 20,000 dollars a year. His retirement strengthens the position of the so-called Liberal majority.
