NORTHERN MAORIS
HEALTH AND EDUCATION By Telegraph—Press Association WHANGAREI, January 6 The Minister of Health and Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, has commenced a tour of the North to investigate the health and living conditions, housing and education of Maoris. A particular feature of the native settlements that will be considered by the Minister will be the provision of water supplies. Mr Fraser is accompanied by Mrs Fraser, who has already a firsthand knowledge of the health conditions of the Maoris gained as a member of the Health Commission during its investigation in the North. Dr. D. Cook, medical officer of health for North Auckland, will be with the Mfhister during his tour. As Minister of Education, Mr Fraser will inspect the majority of the native schools in the North, but owing to the teachers being absent for the summer vacation, it is not anticipated that very much time can be given to this section of Maori welfare.
