DOMESTIC SERVICE
SHORTAGE OF WORKERS By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, January 6. The Minister of Labour, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, commenting on the difficulties being encountered in obtaining girls and women for domestic service and other classes of employment, said the number of women who participated in the Government’s Christmas bonus to unemployed would be under 100 for the whole of the Dominion.
Mr Armstrong added that there might be factory workers who were temporarily unemployed because of the holidays, but the position had not reached the stage where they were worrying the Department.
