A FEW HINTS
The best and most easily made glaze for cakes and pastry is a tablespoon of milk in which a little brown sugar has been dissolved. To bleach linen, soak it overnight in a solution of borax, warm water, and soap-suds, and rinse in warm water to which a few drops of ammonia have been added.
Add a few chopped ripe or green olives to plain or lemon sauce served with fish.
To bring up the pattern on a dull and faded carpet, add a teaspoon of turps to sufficient warm suds and wash lightly. Always rub the pattern against the pile.
