POOR FISHING
RAIN HELPS STRANDED FISH “Throughout the holidays the fishing in the Temuka district has been the poorest experienced for years,” said the ranger to the Acclimatisation Society, Mr F. W. Pellett, yesterday. “The wet weather did not give the rivers a chance to settle and the dull days prevailing were not conducive to good fishing, in any case.” Mr Pellett said that one good effect from the wet weather had been the freeing of fish from land-locked pools where they were in danger of dying if not rescued. The disappointment experienced by local anglers had been general throughout South Canterbury.
