FRICTION EVIDENT
SELECTION OF BOAT AND CREW By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, December 3. Manihi, the boat selected to represent Canterbury in the Sanders Cup contest, will be sailed by G. E. Brasell, who won the cup at Wellington in 1932 and successfully defended it at Lyttelton in 1933. Subject to their acceptance, the following have been chosen as the crew: A. Norris (spinnaker hand), R. Priddy and A. Olsen. Further trials were to have been held on Saturday and Sunday with Brasell sailing the Manihi and W. Tissiman sailing the Elfin. Whoever won the majority of these trials would sail the Manihi at Dunedin. Tissiman, however, did not agree to the conditions, and Brasell was selected. Mr H. Beanland, secretary to the Canterbury Sailing and Power Lost Association, stated to-night that the Association had received a letter trim K. Sillars, written on behalf of W. Tissiman, skipper of the Elfin, stating that Tissiman refused to sail in the trials arranged for Saturday and ■ Sunday unless he sailed the Huia. The ' owner of the Huia declined to lend the I boat or any of its gear to the Associa- ' tion, and the proposed trials ihe xfore had been cancelled.
