BACHELORS’ IDEAS
HOW WOMEN SHOULD DRESS A survey of (he ideas of young bachelors in New York offices on how women ought to dress was recently taken for the benefit of American girls who wish to be suitably turned out for very special occasions. '’ummed up. their opinions are as follows: They like to see their feminine
friends well dressed, but not “dressed up.” They dislike extreme clothes and the appearance of a consciously striven effect. They vote for simplicity and “hate dresses with flub-dubs.” (This means th'y dislike the kind of clothes in which you or they can become entangled) . They like dresses which fit the figure --and reveal a good one—but hate dresses with too-tight hiplincs or waistlines. They like black (if it does not look too gloomy) and most of the rich shades in vogue this season. But they like to sec the dark hues relieved with some bright touch of colour. (The average man gets bored with costumes entirely in neutral tones, no matter how smart the fashion books tell you t’. ■'y may be). And, finally, it was gleaned: Men hate red finger-nails, and they love veils.
