Dr Eleanor Baker McLaglen, Christchurch, is staying at the Dominion.

Mr and Mrs R. Gerken, Gore, are staying at the Grand. Mrs G. Brown, Wellington, is staying at the Grosvenor. Lesley House, the Christchurch writer (Miss E. Macleod Smith) is spending a few days in Timaru.

Mrs Melton, Orari, and Miss Delamaln, Geraldine, are staying at the Grand.

Mrs Spencer, Christchurch, is staying with Mrs Sinclair-Thomson, “The Crossing," Woodbury.

Mrs Dudley Jeune of Fairlie, is visiting Christchurch before leaving on a motor tour of the North Island.

Mrs R. E. Leggott, who has recently returned from England is staying with her mother, Mrs E. Howden, Park Lane.

Mrs Marshall, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs Colin Marshall, Preston Street.

Miss D. Theomin, Dunedin, is spending a holiday at the Hermitage, Mt. Cook.

Mr and Mrs S. Cox, Dunedin, who spent a few days’ holiday at the Hermitage, Mt. Cook, have returned home. Miss Monica McGrath, Timaru, and Miss Margaret Phelan, Rakaia, have returned to Dunedin after a holiday visit to Omakau and Cromwell.

The Marchioness of Sligo, England, accompanied by Miss Helen McLean, Ardgour, Scotland, have left the Hermitage, Mt. Cook to tour the Southern Lakes.

Miss Patricia Ritchie, Te Tawa, will leave shortly for Wellington to be bridesmaid at the wedding of Miss Joan Williams, daughter of Mr and Mrs Guy Williams, Heretaunga, which takes place on December 11.

The old girls of Wellington College throughout the Dominion will be gratified to learn that as a result of their efforts to establish a memorial to the late Mrs Ena Dawson, for many years president of the old girls’ association, the “Old Girls’ Association Ena Dawson Scholarship” has now been established, and is included in this year’s prize-list, carrying an annual value of £lO.

Yesterday afternoon the writing room of the South Canterbury Women’s Club was gay with beautiful roses when members of the executive, including Mrs E. G. Kerr, Mrs W. White, Mrs H. Hay, Mrs C. G. Bryan King, Mrs D. Murchison, Mrs L. E. Finch, Mrs H. Bannerman and Miss Loo Cartwright, met to say good-bye to Miss Dorothy Barron, secretary of the club who is leaving on a visit to England. After afternoon tea, Mrs Kerr, president of the club asked Miss Barron to accept a travelling set and wished her a very happy voyage and a safe return. Miss Barron, who has been granted a year’s leave of absence will sail by the Arawa on December 31.
