Dec. 25 2.20 a.m. CONDITIONS IN TIMARU A mild temperature was experienced yesterday in spite cf an overcast sky. There was a light sea breeze which promised to blow the clouds away but after a glimpse of sunshine in the afternoon conditions remained overcast. Records at Timaru Park yesterday were:— Barometer—3o.ll. Max. temp.—66.B. Min. temp, on grass—4B.4. Wind—N.E.l. Rainfall to date this year—l7.B3in. Rainfall to date last year—2s.o9in. Sunshine—.ol hours. Sunshine to date this year—1649.34 hours. IN OTHER CENTRES Christchurch—The weather was fine yesterday. The morning was overcast but the afternoon sunny. A moderate north-east breeze was blowing. The maximum temperature was 64.8 deg. The barometer fell slightly and read 30.22 in at 5 p.m. Ashburton—Following a spell of consistently fine weather, the highest temperature this summer was reached on Saturday when 87 degrees were recorded. There was a moderate northeast wind, which increased in force later in the day. Sunny conditions, with a light north-east wind, were experienced on Sunday, and continued yesterday when the clouds of the early morning disappeared quickly. A phnomenally high temperature was experienced at Hinds on Saturday when 91 degrees was recorded. Geraldine—Dull early; bright sunsl ine later. Temuka—After a dull morning the afternoon was fine with bright sunshine. The maximum temperature was 71 degrees and the minimum 45. The glass was steady last evening. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday—Thermometer, maximum 65.5; minimum 53.0; bright sunshine, 6 hours 18 minutes;' wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 104. Yesterday was overcast and mild. Dunedin—The weather yesterday was sunny with cloudy conditions in the afternoon. Temperatures were mild, the maximum being 63 degrees. The barometer was steady at 30.33 inches. CANTERBURY FORECAST Special to ** The Timaru Herald.** WELLINGTON, November 29. Winds—North-east to northerly, freshening somewhat. Weather—Fair to cloudy with mild to warm temperatures. Seas—Slight to moderate.
