BERLIN’S FUTURE
FOUNDATION STONE OF MILITARY ACADEMY United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received November 28, 6.30 p.m.) BERLIN, November 27. Herr Hitler took the first step in the reconstruction of Berlin, when he laid the foundation stone of a military academy and technical university on the new Ring Road, near the Army Road, Berlin’s great western approach. Herr Hitler said: “Without Rome there would never have been a Roman State. We Germans have a thousand years behind us, and we are building for a thousand years ahead.” The Minister of Education (Dr. Rust) announced that 16,000 students in the Berlin University and Technical University were being transferred to a gigantic range of buildings, being erected on a new site possessing the Reich’s sportsfleld and Olympic stadium as a playing field. General Beck (Dean of the Academy) pointed out the building plan would be complete in 1940, replacing that dissolved under the Versailles Treaty.
