PLEASANT POINT

FLOWER SHOW On Saturday the Pleasant Point r ”ennis and Basketball Clubs held their annual flower show in the Town Hall. The afternoon was most successful and there was a good display of summer blooms. A dance was held in the evening. The awards were:— Flower and Decorative Section Collection of roses: Mrs A. The judge of the flowers and produce was Mr A. S. Jones of Timaru, and of the pet animals, Mr George Gliddon, Pleasant Point. Mr Jones remarked after the show that it was a decided improvement on last "ear’s. He was particularly impressed with the children’s section, in which one class of floating bowls, in which there were seven entries, was so excellent that it would have done credit to an adult show. What impressed him most, he said, was the freshness and good condition of the blooms in view of the dry season. He considered that the decorative section was the best.

EX-PUPILS’ ASSOCIATION The Pleasant Point District High School Ex-pupils’ Association held a special meeting at which it was decided unanimously to postpone the dance
