WOMEN’S DIVISION
FAIRLIE BRANCH The November meeting of the Fairlie branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union was presided over by Mrs Goulter. Miss Whatman wrote thanking members for their expression of sympathy in her breavement. Mrs Goulter was congratuled on being one of a committee of four elected by Dominion headquarters to co-oper-ate with the Government to discuss social problems. Mrs Hall demonstrated book binding and Mrs Mackenzie gave a talk on associated countrywomen of the world. Both were accorded a vote of thanks. Afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mrs Monaghan and Miss Macdonald. MA WARO BRANCH At the monthly meeting of the Ma Waro branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, Mrs Connelly presided. Miss Macdonald, Sherwood Downs, gave a most instructive talk and demonstration on home nursing, and later showed the making of a miniature Chinese garden, while Mrs A. B. Mackenzie, Clayton, displayed a wide range of attractive Christmas novelties. A competition arranged by the hostesses, Mrs Struthers and Miss Struthers, was won by Mrs Lee. The monthly competitions resulted.— Bloom: Mrs Waters 1, Miss Struthers 2. Presentation box of flowers: Mrs Leslie 1, Mrs Struthers 2, Mrs Rapsey 3. Christmas present: Mrs Davison 1, Mrs Leslie 2, Mrs Jackson 3. Gooseberries: Miss Naughton 1, Mrs Knubley 2, Mrs Leslie 3. Butter: Mrs Naughton 1, Mrs Leslie 2, Mrs Rapsey 3.
