BRITAIN’S PRODUCTION OF MOTOR VEHICLES British Official Wireless (Received November 26, 6.30 p.m.) RUGBY, November 25. The production of motor vehicles in the United Kingdom for the year ended Setpember 30 exceeded, for the first time,., 500,000. Of this total 389,633 were cars and 118,116 commercial vehicles, representing an increase in both classes of 10 per cent .over 1936. The number of vehicles exported was 90,663, compared with 75,153 in 1936. The imports for the year totalled 12,550. The money value of the retail sales in October was 4.4 per cent, higher than in October, 1936. The total value of stocks at the end of October was 7.4 per cent, higher than in 1936. The number of employees in the retail establishments averaged 2.9 per cent, above the same period in 1936.
