Costly Gardening
Instancing the difficulties met by gardeners in Sydney through lack of natural rainfall, by comparison with New Zealand, Mr J. E. Cock, a visitor to the Royal Show in Palmerston North, said that he had been an entrant for a garden competition and the extra water he had used on that occasion had cost him £lO In excess water rates. The property owner was allowed to use a certain amount of water, according to the amount of rates hr paid, and after that was charged 2/per 1000 gallons.
