WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
WASHDYKE The November meeting of the Washdyke Women’s Institute was well attended, Mrs Blay presiding. Mrs McGillivray and Mrs H. J. Harris were elected members. Final arrangements were made for the children's Christmas party. Mrs Shaw kindly consented to make the cake. The president took the opportunity of thanking all those who had helped to make the birthday party such a success. 1 The golden thread “early Washdyke” was given by Mrs Doak. The competitions resulted as follows. —Marmalade, seniors: Mrs Gaffaney 1, Mrs Phillips 2, Mrs Doak 3. Three spring flowers: Miss I. King 1, Mrs W. Kellahan 2, Mrs J. King 3. Marmalade, juniors: Miss Alice Phillips. Bloom, seniors: Mrs H. J. Harris and Mrs Doak equal 1. Juniors, Miss Alice Phillip 1. The hostesses were Mesdames Seyb, Sievwright, Shaw and Watt.
