TIMARU BANDS

HOSPITAL SUNDAY Once a year the bands of Timaru combine in an effort to raise funds to provide for Christmas cheer for the patients in the Timaru Hospital, and to-morrow has been chosen as the occasion for this year’s effort. Three bands will part* flpate, the Timaru Municipal, Timaru Highland Pipe and Timaru Boys’ High School Band. They are to parade at the Drill Hall at 2.15 and march to Caroline Bay, where a programme of music will be presented. The object is a most worthy one, and it is to be hoped that the response will be liberal. The Municipal Band will also give a recitai on the Bay tomorrow evening. On Monday night the Municipal Band will conduct a community sing in the Theatre Royal in aid of their contest funds. The Band has secured the services of Mr S. Buckler, who conducted the Christchurch community sings, and splendid supporting artists will also appear. These will include Mrs Buckler, Mr Dave McGill and the Campbell Bros., whose concertina items are always popular.
