November 25. “The Times," in a leader, commenting on a special article it publishes on the plight of the aborigines, says: "The Immediate cause of this deplorable state of affairs has been lack of both trained administrators and funds.” The paper adds: "Professor WoodJones ascribed the ultimate cause to official and popular indifference. His address to the Victorian Anthropological Society was a scathing indictment of official neglect.” “The Times” reviews the recent measures for reform and concludes with a hope that Australian Governments and people will support a more constructive native policy than that of lalssez falre.
