DIRTY WEATHER

SHIPPING SCHEDULES UPSET. By Telegraph—Piess association AUCKLAND, November 25. The working of ships at the wharves yesterday was practically at a standstill owing to the continued rain, and schedules were affected in most cases. The Japanese motor-ship Sydney Maru, which was to have left for Wellington yesterday afternoon, is now expected to sail to-day, and the departures of numbers of ccastal vessels were also postponed. Misty conditions ruled in the Hauraki Gulf, and on the west coast. The Anchor Line steamer Kaitoa, from Nelson, for Onehunga, wirelessed that fog was preventing her crossing the Manukau bar. She finally crossed at 6.30 last night, in rough weather, but anchored in the harbour on account of the darkness nd mist. Rough conditions are believed to be responsible for a delay of 15 hours in the arrival at Auckland from Westport of the Westport Coal Company’s steamer, Canopus, previously expected here at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The Canopus sent a wireless message last night stating that she would reach port at 7 o’clock this morning.
