Since its inception, almost five months ago, the nursery at the Wellington railway station has cared for an average of thirteen children daily. The largest number experienced in one day was thirty-seven and the lowest four, according to a statement made by the Plunket nurse in charge (Miss G. E. Small). A trend towards older stories, rather than the fairy tales of Hans Anderson, has also been noticed amongst children left at the nursery. To Miss Small’s knowledge, only one child, and that a boy, has evinced interest in the large supply of books of fairy stories donated by one of Wellington’s largest establishments.
