GARDEN PARTY Under the auspices of the Orari Presbyterian Girls’ Guild a garden party was held at “Greenmeadows,” the property of Mrs Geo. Stewart. The Geraldine Brass Band and the Temuka Pipe Band were in attendance and played selections. Afternoon tea was served under shady trees on the west lawn. The various stalls, including variety, cake, sweets and ice cream, did brisk business, and the Guild members, along with their willing helpers from other parts of the charge, are to be congratulated on the success of their efforts. The following were prize-winners in the various competitions:—Chain stepping, Mrs A. Henderson; clock golf, Mrs Piddington and Mr M. Hampton; croquet, Mrs F. South; nail driving, Hector Henderson; cushion, Miss D. Williams; supper cloth, Miss B. Opie. PERSONAL Mr M. Richardson, who has been postmaster at Orari for more than three and a-half years, left yesterday for Leeston. Mr J. L. Stevenson, Cromwell, has arrived to take up his duties as postmaster at Orari. Mr E. D. Dallard, Studholme, has arrived to take up his duties as railway ganger.
