The Courts sanctioned the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company’s capital scheme. Mr Justice Simonds declared that the scheme was based on the presumption that English, Australian and New Zealand currencies would continue at the present ratio. If they acquired parity, it would put the company in a strong position. Counsel agreed, but said the directors were justified in carrying out the scheme in the circumstances. The Judge replied that as the scheme was based on an adjustment, necessitated by currency depreciation, he would confirm it. OAMARU WOOLLEN MILLS The directors of the Oamaru Woollen and Worsted Mills will recommend at the annual meeting to be held on December 6 that a final dividend of 31 per cent be paid for the year ended October 31. An interim of 21 per cent has been paid, making with the proposed dividend, 6 per cent for the year.
