RHODES SCHOLARS
SELECTION MADE By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, November 23. The two New Zealand Rhodes scholars who are to go into residence at Oxford University next year were selected to-day, the successful candidates being:— George Lawrence Hogben, 8.A., Auckland University College. J. N. Matson, Canterbury University College. There were In all eight candidates, each of the four University colleges making two nominations. Mr Matson was an unsuccessful Canterbury candidate last year. He is a law student reading for the final section of the LL.B degree, and has the ambition of entering the Colonial Service. Mr Hogben, who has graduated 8.A., is an old boy of the Auckland Grammar School.
