WELLINGTON MEAT COMPANY The report of the Wellington Meat Export Cc., Ltd., for the year ended September states that after providing £9112 for depreciation there remains a profit of £11,571 compared with £14,038 in the previous year and £lO,llO in 1935. It is proposed to pay a preference dividend of 6 per cent absorbing £5258 leaving £6313 to be applied to the reduction of the debt in the appropriation account. The company has a paid capital of £236,387 in 87,639 preference shares and 148.748 ordinary shares. Ordinary shareholders have not received a dividend for 10 years. Preference shareholders received no dividend from 1928 till 1935 when proposals by which the postponed preference dividends might be liquidated were put into effect. Holders accepted a payment of a dividend at the rate of 5 per cent per annum in full settlement of arrears tc 1934. Thereafter they agreed to accept 6 per cent and forego the right to participate in any payments beyond 6 per cent per annum. The debit balance in the appropriation account has been reduced from £30,539 to £24,226. TOOTH AND CO., LTD. The directors of Tooth and Co., Ltd., in their annual report for the year ended September 30 state that the net profit was £774,695/9/11 to which must be added £49,493/6/3 brought forward from last year making a total of £824,538/16/2. The interim dividend of 10 per cent per annum took £309,132/17/- leaving available £515.405/19/2. This amount the directors have appropriated as follows:—Payment of r. final dividend at the rate of 11 per cent per annum £340,046/2/8; transfer to general reserve £50,000; transfer to depreciation reserve £70,000; carry forward £55,359/16/6. The dividend for the year totals 104 per cent, an increase of J per cent. Depreciation for the year has been provided to the extent of £91,235/17/1.
