Armstrong, when Interviewed to-day. Information was now being obtained throughout the Dominion as to the total of ordinary apprentices in various trades and when these returns were completed they expected to show that the present year will prove a record. In fact the figures at the present time Indicate the number of ordinary contracts entered into for the past eight months to be the same as the number of apprentices taken on in a normal year. Referring to legislation last session dealing with young men, who missed opportunities during the depression, Mr Armstrong said to date 363 special contracts had been entered into while a large number of other cases were under investigation.
