CHILD INJURED

AWARD OF £2021 DAMAGES By Telegraph—Press Association DUNEDIN, November 22. In an action instituted before Mr Justice Kennedy on October 28 on behalf on Kenneth Lloyd, an infant, against R. Cahill and Son, carriers, the jury awarded plaintiff £2OOO genera! damages and £2l/17/- special damages. The case was a sequel to an accident in Gardner Street, Momington, in November of last year, in which the child was struck by a truck owned by the defendant firm and gravely injured. When the decision of the jury was made Mr J. M. Paterson intimated that he wished time to consider whether further action should be taken on the ground that the verdict was against the weight of evidence, and his Honour postponed entering Judgment. The case came before the Court again this morning, when Mr Paterson said that he had no application to make.

Mr A. N. Eaggltt, for the plaintiff, asked for judgment for the amount awarded by the jury, with costs. His Honour gave judgment for £2021/17/-, with costs.
