DAIRYMEN’S PROTEST

To the Editor oi The Timaru Herald ” Sir. —Will you kindly allow me space in support of the complaint against the dairy factory now operating in South Canterbury? I am speaking on behalf of several suppliers and we are absolutely "fed up.” The company Will not answer any letters. The cans are returning in an unsatisfactory condition almost every time, in spite of complaints. The grades appear to be topsy turvy in that those who always got ‘‘finest” previously only get "first” now, while suppliers who only received “first” in recent seasons get quite a lot of “finest” now. The factories used to test for suppliers free of charge, now it costs 6d per sample, which is outrageous. Fortunately there are two factories operating at this end and from all accounts the Timaru factory will be just about cut out down here after this season. Does anyone know if the old Caroline Company is going to pay us the balance of the guaranteed price? We have only received 1/- so far*and nothing has been heard of any bonus.—l am, etc., OTAIO.
