OBITUARY

MISS L. M. .VOLFF. The dealth of Miss Lucie Mabel Wolff, a sister on the nursing staff of the Ashburton Public Hospital, occurred et Ashburton on Saturday, after a short illness. Miss Wolff, who was 27 years old, was a daughter of Mr and Mrs E. Wolff, of Timaru, and received her education at the Timaru Girls’ High School. She received her general nursing training at the Ashburton Public Hospital, and after passing the State examination, took her maternity training at Hastings, returning to Ashburton at the beginning of this year to take a sister's post on the staff. She was a very capable member of the nursing profession, tn. showed a sympathetic disposition to the patients under her care. Miss Wolff was fond of sport, being a keen tennis and badminton player. She was a member of the Ashburton Badminton Club. The flag at the Ashburton Public Hospital was flown at half-mast out of respec' for Miss Wolff. The funeral took place at Timaru yesterday.

MR C. R. BROBERG By Tplpri iph Presp Association WELLINGTON, November 22. The death has Occurred of Mr Charles Robert Broberg, aged 67, who was one of the most capable detectives New Zealand has had. Mr Broberg joined the Police Force in Dunedin in 1895 as a constable. He was transferred to Wellington in 1899 as a member of the Detective Force, becoming chief detective in 1909. In 1915 he went to Dunedin as sub-inspector, and was afterwards transferred successively to Auckland (1917), .and Wellington (1918). In 1919 he was promoted inspector, and then superintendent. He was a member of the Victorian Order. He is survived by a widow and a son.
