LORD HALIFAX'S IMPORTANT MISSION

United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copyright (Received November 21, 6.30 p.m.) BERLIN, November 20. Lord Halifax has arrived bom Berchtesgaden and is continuing his talks with General Goering. Lord Halifax has invited Baron von Neurath (German Foreign Minister) to visit London. No date has been fixed. It is understood the informal conversations have reached a point whence they will be translated into official channels. Sir Neville Henderson is giving a banquet at the British Embassy in Berlin in honour of Lord Halifax, and the guests will include, it is stated, Dr. Schacht, Herr Frick and HenFrank. Private Conferences Lord Halifax had a private conference with Herr Hitler at Berchtesgaden which lasted half an hour. Baron Neurath acted as Interpreter. After this meeting lunch was served. The guests included Mr I. A. Kirkpatrick, secretary of the British Embassy at Berlin, other Embassy officials and prominent members of Herr Hitler's entourage. Herr Hitler and Lord Halifax continued their discussions during and after lunch. The whole talks lasted four and a half hours.

The Munich correspondent of “The Dally Telegraph” reports that most of the time Lord Halifax was listening to Herr Hitler.

The crowd gave the Nazi salute when Herr Hitler, wearing a brown shirt, escorted Lord Halifax to his car.

Lord Halifax replied by raising his bowler. Lord Halifax and Baron von Neurath left by train for Munich, and Herr Hitler followed in a special train haff an hour later.

HUNGARY’S GESTURE VISIT OF POLITICAL LEADERS (Received November 21, 6.30 p.m.) BERLIN, November 19. The Hungarian Prime Minister, Dr Daranyi, and the Foreign Minister, Herr Dekanya, will arrive in Berlin on November 20, on a visit to General Goering and Baron von Neurath. The newspapers welcome the visit as a visible expression of the harmonious relations between Germany and Hungary, rooted in their experiences in a world war and afterwards.
