LAWN TENNIS

SENIOR COMPETITION COMMENCED CONDITIONS DIFFICULT Otherwise perfect conditions were marred by a fairly'strong sou'-west/r on Saturday at Maori Park when the first round of the A grade competition was played. As there are Only five teams in the senior competition this season only two matches were decided. Timaru had a comfortable victory over St. John's by 15 sets to one. and Waiiti disposed of Highfield with the loss of two sets. Although some interesting games were witnessed, the tennis did not reach a high standard.
