TO-DAY’S RECIPE PICKLED ONIONS Four quarts small white onions, 2 cupfuls sugar, 1 cupful salt, 2 quarts vinegar, i cupful mixed allspice, cloves, peppercorns. Peel the onions under water. Place In a basin, sprinkle with salt and stand overnight. Turn Into a colander and rinse well under water tap. Boil sugar, spice and vinegar for 5 minutes. Put in the onions and boil well. Pack into bottles, pour in the vinegar till overflowing when cold, cover closely.
