WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MILFORD Mrs R. Prattley presided over a good attendance of members at the November meeting of the Milford Women’s Institute. Before commencing the business, the president asked Mr Jas. Woodhead (chairman of the Hall committee) to accept two tea waggons as an appreciation from the Institute. A party, from the Arowhenua Maori Institute gave some very pleasing items, and Mrs Rehu demonstrated the making of pois and handed over one to the Institute to keep. Mrs R. Prattley gave a comprehensive report of the half-yearly council meeting held at Pleasant Point. The arranging of the Christmas party was left to the committee. The competitions resulted as follows. —Short bread: Mrs J. Brown jnr. 1, Mrs P. Dale 2, Mrs A. Caithness 3. Printing, “Home and Country”: Mrs M. McCormick 1, Mrs A. Caithness 2, Mrs Jas McCully 3. Bloom: Miss H. Prattley 1, Miss L. Prattley 2, Mrs G. Parke 3.
