At a previous general meeting, a very interesting talk was given by Mrs M. Raymond on “Hostessing and Entertaining." Miss R. Johnstone, president of the club, briefly outlined its activities. An interesting visitor who passed through Wellington on her way to Christchurch on Wednesday was Miss Josephine Broglie, Los Angeles. This is Miss Broglie’s third visit to this country in as many years. She combines business with pleasure and is pleasure-bound for Christchurch. Miss Broglie’s home is in Los Angeles, but she spends her time (when she is not travelling) at Hollywood. She is a friend of Clark Gable and Gary Cooper. Miss Broglie’s opinion of film stars off the “sets” is not so high. In her opinion, they are thin to the point of emaciation, which she attributes to the fact that it is desirable for photographic purposes.
