Upon the arrival of the Awatea today, Captain Davey received a picture postcard showing the Monterey and inscribed: “Hearty congratulations from Captain Johanson of the Monterey upon the achievement of a record Tasman crossing which will long remain a tribute to your fine ship.” Captain Davey said he deeply appreciated the splendid gesture from the roval liner's commander.
