Although boy scouts the world over have adopted the tunic of the original scout, Lord Baden Powell, numerous variations have appeared in the rest of their apparel. At the International jamboree hell in Holland during August there were Scottish scouts in kilts, Indians from America in scanty attire which suggested a bathing costume, and others in knee breeches of diverse cut. Hindus wore turbans. Mexicans a hat with a high crown after the cowboy style, Polish scouts a cap of militaristic appearance, and those of other nations headgear which accorded more or less with the custom of their countries. The United States contingent of 900 caused some surprise by turning out for the first time at a world jamboree in shorts. Previously they had been against the adoption of the complete Baden Powell attire.
