Detectives, fearful of a repetition of the murders which bore the mysterious symbol, secreted themselves throughout the night in suburban highways, habitually used by couples, whom they warned not to park motor cars. They watched fruitlessly for the slayer, questioning 80 friends of victims. Undisclosed clues revealed a coincidence o' victims, who were Invited, but did not attend the fraternity dance on the night of the slaying, at which red circles were marked on the wrists of paying couples to prevent participation by those not paying.
