RADIO STATION FOR TIMARU
To the Editor of “ The Tlmaru Herald.” Sir,—As one who has been interested in the question of a radio station for Timaru at present being discussed in the correspondence columns of your newspaper, I would like to suggest to the two parties at present holding a “one way” talk on this subject that now it has gone so far and appears that it might tend towards being personal, that either or both of the parties convene a meeting to have this subject openly discussed. It would appear that the Timaru Radio Club has in the past convened meetings to discuss such a subject, but never has there been such publicity given this matter. I think that your correspondent, Mr R. W. Anderson, who we understand cannot go out much, would make it his business to be present, seeing that he is taking such an active part, through your columns. At present a lot is centring around what one member of the Radio Club thinks, but to me I can see nothing in the opinion of one man, and do not think that the opinion of that said person can amount to a great deal, one way or the other. I think the time has come for the Radio Club or Mr Anderson to see just how those listeners who are interested enough, would vote on this matter, as this corresponding through your columns can go on indefinitely without getting any further ahead. I hope that such a meeting will be convened and that listeners will give the lead to the Timaru Radio Club and roll along and show them that they are vitally interested in a subject which is of importance, both as entertainment and education, to all license holders.— I am, etc., FINIS Timaru, July 19.
