AT THE WAIMATE HUNT RACES
Attracted to Waimate on Saturday, many f:lk spent a delightful and sporting day on the little country course when the Hunt Club held its annual steeplechase meeting as a conclusion to a very successful hunting season in the district. Though fine the day was truly a winter one, the sun only struggling through in the late afternoon, making beautiful shades through the soft smoky effect of the clouds hich cast their blue shadows on the surrounding Hunters Hills. An icy breeze blowing off them was more conducive to W’arm wrappings than smartness, and the frocking was in keeping with the general atmosphere, fur coats, thick frocks, tweed suits and tailor-mades worn with vivid plaid or multi-coloured scarves and chic little hats of every conceivable shape being much in evidence.
The trophies were presented by Mrs T. V. Cooney, who wore a smart black and white tailleur with white lace blouse and black velour hat.
