LABOURER KILLED
RUN OVER BY RAKE OF TRUCKS By Tel egraph—Press Association BLENHEIM, July 17. The first fatal accident on the South Main Trunk railway construction works occurred yesterday afternoon, when Augustus Osca Cottington (48), married, of Blenheim, labourer, was killed instantly, when run over by a rake of trucks, conveying spoil from the tunnel at Ohau bluff to the tip on the seashore. Cottington was engaged in repairing the rail track. The noise of the air compressor in the vicinity prevented him hearing the approach of the trucks. The body, badly mangled, was removed to Kaikoura.
