LITTLE RHYMES FOR LITTLE PEOPLE

THE LITTLE GREEN MAN I have a little Green Man, And he has such a funny back; It’s very stiff and very long, But it hasn’t a speck of black.

He’s never dirty, ’cause he’s painted; He’s on a little piece of cardboard; My little brother Jim plays with him; I keep him shut up in the cupboard.

I try to make him talk to me, But I can’t get a word from him. He will not speak when he is here, And in the cupboard his voice is dim. (3 Marks and a Merit Card awarded to Eileen Chapman, Waitohi.) IF I WERE RICH If I were rich I’d keep a bee And eat its honey for my tea. If I were rich I’d buy a horse, And have a little foal, of course; But most of all I’d like a lot Of red geraniums in a pot. (Sent by Joan Day, Pareora East.) (Continued in seventh column)
