SOUTHBURN

KITCHEN EVENING On Thursday evening last a pleasant social gathering was held in the Southburn School in honour of Miss N. Gibson and Mr C. Bishop, whose marriage takes place next Wednesday. The evening was spent in dancing, music being supplied by Mrs Joines, with an extra by Miss M. Evans, while Mr G. Hoare acted as M.C. Mr R. Parry, president of the Tennis Club, expressed regret at the departure of the young couple from the district, and spoke of their work in connection with the Tennis Club. The large gathering present showed the esteem in which they were held in the district, and he wished them success in the future.

Mrs J. Chamberlain, on behalf of the Women's Division, presented Miss Gibson with a beautiful green vase with all best washes from the Division. Miss E. Kinross spoke for the Basketball Club and presented a beautiful crystal vase to the guest of honour. The couple were greeted with musical honours.

Mr Bishop thanked all for the many useful kitchen gifts and the clubs for their beautiful presents. All they had done for the district was done for the benefit of the community and they wished all organisations In the district success in the future.
