Marrying nine women for their savirigs, George Roediger was sentenced to nine years’ Imprisonment. Julia Retinik, widow, gave him 1000 dollars to start a store In Ontario, but he vanished. The police stated that his first wife died under mysterious circumstances at St. Catherine’s. The body of the second was found in a well at Catskill, New York. An unsuccessful search had been made for the fourth, Christina McKenzie, who vanished in Toronto. Roediger then married Roberta Barcroft, a wealthy widow in Vancouver In 1934, and terrorised her in a locked apartment until she gave him a cheque for 50,000 dollars, cunningly signed incorrectly and refused by the bank. Roediger then disappeared.
