Alatmed at the ease with which Southern Europeans can enter Australia, and the growing alien population in this country, members of the military Coronation contingent have returned to Australia pledged to do everything in their power to have restrictions placed on this class of immigration. The soldiers were overwhelmed by tiie hospitality of the British people, and tn their travels met many fine types of Englishmen, who expressed a desire to make their homes in Australia if they were given the necessary encouragement. They viewed with misgivings the increasingly large number of Italians and Southern Europeans who are arriving in Australia by boatloads to form community towns in the various States of the Commonwealth, particularly in the sugar-growing areas in Northern Queensland. On the voyage home, members of the contingent held a meeting and adopted a resolution protesting against the influx of Southern European immigrants, and urging the Federal Government to take immediate action in the matter.
