ORARI BRIDGE

WOMEN’S DIVISION Mrs J. Reid presided at the monthly meeting of the Orari Bridge branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, when a most enjoyable talk on Maori ctirios was given by Mr McCully (Peel Forest). A wonderful collection of curios and primitive tools proved not only interesting but very instructive. One new member, Mrs F. Reid, was welcomed. A financial report of the Cinderella dance held recently showed a very substantial Credit balance. It was decided to send a representative from the branch to the conference to be held in Wellington during July. Mrs F. E. South was nominated as the delegate. Mrs J. Reid made a presentation of a crystal vase to the secretary who was accorded musical honours. Mrs Quigley thanked the members for their kind thoughts and gift. The next meeting was arranged for July 6. The following were the results c; the month’s competitions, which were judged by Mesdames F. Reid and McCully: best bloom, Miss Ashby 1, Mrs Quigley 2, Mrs H. Coulter 3; three parsnips, Mrs W. AShby 1, Mrs J. Pattison 2, Miss R. Ashby 3; three piece fruit square, Mrs F. E. South 1, Miss R. Ashby 2, Miss Joyce Ford 3; re-footed child’s sock or stocking, Mrs J. Johnstone 1, Mrs W. Ford 2. Mrs F. E. South 3. Mesdames W. Inglis, W. Ashby and J. Pattison were hostesses.
