LATEST ADVICES The only arrival yesterday was the Holmdale, which came from Dunedin and Oamaru, and sailed again last night for Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton and Wanganui. ARRIVAL June 24 Holmdale, s.s., 681 tons (Copland), from Oamaru (H. J. R. Somerville and Co., agents). DEPARTURE June 24 Holmdale, s.s., for Lyttelton. NOTES The Port Waikato now due tomorrow from Dunedin, to load for Wellington, Tauranga, Auckland and Whangarei. The Breeze is expected to-morrow from the south to pick up general cargo for Wellington and Wanganui, via Lyttelton. The Karetu has been put back and is not now due until Tuesday to discharge Australian cargo. The Storm is set down for Tuesday for Wellington and Wanganui loading. The Walmarino has been put back a day and is now expected on Tuesday to load for Wellington and Auckland, via Lyttelton. Melbourne Star The movements of the Melbourne Star are indefinite. The vessel may reach here from Bluff on Sunday, or she may be a day or two later. O.R.M.S. Orcades The Orient S.N. Co. has been notified that Captain F. R. O’Sullevan has been appointed to the command of the new liner Orcades. The vessel will leave London on October 9 on her maiden voyage to Australia. The Orcades, now nearing completion in the yards of Vickers-Armstrong Ltd., at Barrow-in-Furness, is designed to burn oil fuel only. Six boilers will generate steam at 4501 b to the square inch. Full power demands from the boilers will consume between six and seven tons of oil fuel an hour. The Orcades is a vessel of 24,000 tons, 630 ft long, and 82ft in beam. The liner has one mast, one funnel, and two propellers, and will carry 464 first and 609 tourist passengers. Captain O’Sullevan was formerly in command of the Orontes, which will now be in charge of Captain G. G. Thorne, late of the Ormonde, who has been replaced in that ship by Captain N. Savage. The Ormonde is Captain Savage’s first command. NEW ZEALAND PORTS By Telegraph —Press, Association AUCKLAND, June 24.
