RANGER BECOMES DEFENDER United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received June 24, 8.30 p.m.) NEWPORT. June 24. Ranger won the seventh trial race to select the defender of the America Cup, defeating Yankee by 51 minutes, over a course of 27.7 miles. It is considered virtually certain that the Ranger will defend the Cup.
