Mi- L. C. Hobbs (Waimate) is a guest at the Grand. Messrs J. Paul, C. R. Rhodes, A. L. Norwood (Dunedin), B. H. Willis (Christchurch), W. Moyes and A. Kemp (Wellington) are staying at the Dominion. Messrs W. W. Dunsterville, S. H. Mayne (Christchurch), 8. A. Shearer and J. H. Gill (Wellington) are staying at the Empire. Mr A. M. H. Shirtcllffe, general manager of the Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Society, arrived at Wellington from Sydney on Tuesday, after two months spent touring in Queensland. He is to visit the Wairarapa before returning home. Mr G. A. Eddowes, town clerk of Thames, and secretary of the Thames Harbour Board prior to its amalgamation with the Borough Council, has been appointed secretary of the New Plymouth Harbour Board. Messrs R. Y. White, R. C. Carroll, C. R. Perkin, J. Cade, H. Whiteman, R. Mirams, A. S. Masters, J. M. Epps (Christchurch), D. E. Wilkie (Wellington), W. M. Daglish and L. E. Wareham (Dunedin) are registered at the Grosvenor. Mr R. A. Simpson has been appointed assistant engineer to the Napier Harbour Board. Mr Simpson commenced his engineering career as a cadet to the Otago Harbour’ Board, after which he attended Canterbury College. He spent one year on the Waitaki hydro-electric works and for the last 24 years was engaged by the Dunedin City Council. On the motion of the chairman (Mr H. H. Fraser) the Board of Governors of the Timaru High Schools, at last night’s meeting, congratulated the Rev. Clyde Carr, M.P., on his appointment as representative of Members of Parliament on the Board of Governors of the Canterbury University College. It was an honour for Mr Carr to be appointed as an administrator of the College he had attended as a student, added Mr Fraser.
