ADDINGTON

HEAVY BUYING FOR EXPORT LITTLE CHANGE IN VALUES By Telegraph—- ress Association CHRISTCHURCH, June 23. There was little change at to-day’s Addington stock market. Exporters were in the market for both fat lambs and fat sheep, and so far as lambs are concerned it will be practically the final market of the year. Store Sheep The small store sheep yarding was made up almost entirely of wethers, with a few pens of nondescript ewes. For good, forward wethers, there was a free demand and late rates were fully maintained. Values were: — s. d. Wethers to 26 0 Ewe lambs to 28 8 Mixed aged ewes to 23 5 Fat Lambs Only two export firms were in the market for fat lambs. They had little to choose from, for the offering, totalling about 800 head, included very few prime sorts. For the good lambs, .schedule rates were maintained, but other sorts had a “sticky” sale. The sale was practically the last of the season, and it is likely that next week’s entry will close a highly successful series of sales. The best sale was of a line of ten, sold on account of A. Dorman (Springfield) which made from 34/1 to 36/10. Fat Sheep Another heavy fat sheep entry again saw the store pens used to cope with the overflow. Right from the start of the sale there was a very keen demand for ewes, and primer sorts were up by about 1/- a head over the early stages. Young wether mutton also showed a firming tendency. Medium sorts sold well A big proportion of the yarding was rubbish, and was not wanted. Some outstanding pens of young ewes and wethers were forward represent 4 ng the local and South Canterbury fattening
