Many matches were postponed owing to rain. Results were:— Men’s Doubles. First Round. Kho Sin Kie and Schroeder beat Coombe and Giessen, 6-1, 6-4, 6-2. Bromwich and Sproule beat De’ )r--man and Wheatcroft, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-3. Hughes and Tuckey beat Borotra and Bernard, 6-4, 6-3, 16-14, Pallada and Puncec beat Avory and Lee, 6-0, 6-1, 5-7, 6-3. Women’s Singles. First Round. Senorita Lizana beat Miss G. Osborne, 6-2, 6-2. Mlle. Jedrzejowsha beat Miss Noel, 6-2, 6-0. Countess de la Valdene beat Miss F. James, 6-4, 6-0. Second Round. Miss Helen Jacobs beat Miss E. Harvey, 6-2, 6-1. Frau Sperling beat Miss Baumgarten, 6-2, 6-0. Miss Alice Marble beat Miss Hardwich, 9-11, 6-4, 6-3.
