KING’S PLAY WINS HANDICAP By reiegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, June 23. Very bad conditions prevailed for the second day of the Auckland Trotting Club's winter meeting held at Alexandra Park. Heavy rain fell, making the conditions most unpleasant. The track was a sea of mud after two races. The totalisator handled £20,119 against £28,055 for the second day last year, a decrease of £7836/10/-. King’s Play went through to the front after two furlongs had been covered and relishing the heavy going was never troubled. The only time he caused his supporters uneasiness was when he made a slight skip near the half-mile post. Our McKinney battled on gamely, and although he left his hopples in the straight he was still far enough ahead of the others to gain second place. Ironside was a moderate third and the others were very tired.

Navy Blue, Stirling Lady and Kewpie’s King showed the way in the early stages, but at the end of the first quarter Kenworthy ran through to the front. Stirling Lady passed the leader down the back stretch and led into .the straight. In the run home Navy Blue prevailed comfortably from King’s Warrior. Bonny Azure was placed third and Stirling Lady, who broke up in the last 100 yards, was fourth.
